One main question we need to ask ourselves as Christians is “What are we doing for God?” Are we helping people when we see the need? Are we being faithful in the little things? Often this question is replaced by another question. “What aren’t I doing?” Now don’t get me wrong, I believe 100% in trying not to do evil stuff, but if we are only striving not to do anything wrong, what are we achieving? If we sit in our house and read our bible, do nothing wrong, and never leave, are we really making a difference? The bible says in James 2:18-22 says ;
“But someone will say, You have faith; I have deeds. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20. You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21. Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22. You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
Also consider the song “ Deeds” by Sanctus Real.
If you don't have faith you have nothing at all
If you don't have deeds your faith will fall
They can't be true without each other
you can't have one without the other
This all goes to show that God wants our good actions, not just our lack of bad ones. If you have faith in God, you will want to serve him.
So I want to challenge you, my friend. Get out and do something for the Lord! Attend a bible study, join a local mission, or pray for the lost. Lets not be a generation that is known for not doing anything wrong, but let us be known for doing a lot right!
